Personal:
For the past 11 years, Sandi and her husband Jim lived in Oak Forest. They have tried to instill the same common sense values of hard work and integrity in their children that were so important to her father. It was essential to Sandi that they be raised in a safe thriving community where they could live, work, and play without worry. Oak Forest provided that safe place.
With the help of her husband, Sandi has created and run a successful small business. She knows how devastating the present county administration has been to the small businesses that are the backbone of the local communities. During her time working as an insurance agent, she has seen the panic when people realize they will no longer be able to afford adequate insurance. As a parent, she is concerned about the crime and violence in our neighborhoods that affects all our children.
Sandi is an outspoken activist in local community affairs. She is a proud member of the Oak Forest Crime Prevention Commission, Oak Forest Crime Watch, and is involved in several other civic organizations. Of particular concern is the current situation with the young people of the community and uncontrollable gang activity. Stronger steps are vital to curb the growing violence, and those responsible must be dealt with in much harsher fashion. She participates in several local charitable organizations that help those who are in need.
Sandi was raised on the southeast side of Chicago. While Mom stayed home taking care of the family, Dad worked long hours in the local steel mill. He was a member of the Sixth Marine Division and a proud veteran of World War II. He believed in honesty, hard work, and standing up for what you believed in--what we would call integrity.
