About Sandi
Why do I want to be your Commissioner?

For far too long, Cook County has been riddled with corruption. Back door deals, political favors, patronage hiring, and lip service have dominated media reporting and justifiably so. It is time to get back to the business of taking care of Cook County and its residents. It is time to find ways to bring business back to our district. We have lost a tremendous amount of revenue with the closing of multiple car dealerships and small businesses.  The recent announcement of the closing of the Oak Forest Ace Hardware has had heartbreaking affect on the community. Homeowners and businesses need to stop being punished with higher taxes because of bad government. They need to be represented not disrespected.

As your Commissioner, I will work tirelessly to rid the county of the corruption that is eating through it like a cancer. I will examine the hiring practices and ensure proper procedures are followed. I will work to cut costs in Cook County through practical means such as department consolidation as opposed to raising taxes. There is NO REASON to dip into the pockets of Cook County residents because its leaders cannot properly manage YOUR money. I promise to work for you, the taxpayer.

You deserve better than a Cook County Commissioner who thinks video poker and higher taxes will bring jobs and economic recovery back to the area.

Personal:

Sandi was raised on the southeast side of Chicago. While Mom stayed home taking care of the family, Dad worked long hours in the local steel mill. He was a member of the Sixth Marine Division and a proud veteran of World War II. He believed in honesty, hard work, and standing up for what you believed in--what we would call integrity.

For the past 11 years, Sandi and her husband Jim lived in Oak Forest. They have tried to instill the same common sense values of hard work and integrity in their children that were so important to her father. It was essential to Sandi that they be raised in a safe thriving community where they could live, work, and play without worry. Oak Forest provided that safe place.

With the help of her husband, Sandi has created and run a successful small business. She knows how devastating the present county administration has been to the small businesses that are the backbone of the local communities. During her time working as an insurance agent, she has seen the panic when people realize they will no longer be able to afford adequate insurance. As a parent, she is concerned about the crime and violence in our neighborhoods that affects all our children.

Sandi is an outspoken activist in local community affairs. She is a proud member of the Oak Forest Crime Prevention Commission, Oak Forest Crime Watch, and is involved in several other civic organizations. Of particular concern is the current situation with the young people of the community and uncontrollable gang activity. Stronger steps are vital to curb the growing violence, and those responsible must be dealt with in much harsher fashion. She participates in several local charitable organizations that help those who are in need.
